Offensive content (Personal info)

We do not allow the posting of this information because once it is indexed by the search engines it may cause a person annoyances in the form of spam, telemarketing calls, etc. Note that it is acceptable to provide the public with a user's real name and general locale (e.g. "some user is really Adam Johnson from New York").

Offensive content (Racism)
The post contains a judgment of the intelligence, character, or appearance of a race of people, supports a position of superiority of one race over another, or contains humor or other text which would reasonably be considered offensive by a member of a given race.

Offensive content (Suggestive)
The post contains suggestive material or offensive gestures.

Offensive content (Swearing)
The post contains language presumed to be considered offensive by a majority of our users, or the poster has deliberately circumvented the swear word filter by misspelling a word, substituting certain characters, or crafting an abbreviation. If the swear word can be determined by context then this warning can apply. The sole exception to the abbreviation clause is "BS", which is deemed acceptable in abbreviated form only, and only in the context of "falseness".

Offensive Content (Violent)
The post contains content which conveys a threat or depicts an injury in a graphic manner.

Over bumping
The post does not contain relevant information and was made purely to keep the poster's thread near the top of the thread listing. We allow two bumps per thread.

How to Avoid Getting Warned The vast majority of warnings are issued for personal attacks or foul language.

Personal attacks usually come up during arguments. Some people have a hard time expressing themselves without attacking others and it is fairly common to see "personal attack" warnings handed out. Please remember that MarlinsBaseball.com believes strongly in protecting the dignity of its users and a confrontational debate style is not welcome here.

Foul language is more than just the classic list of "swear words". Users often try to circumvent swear word lists by substituting asterisks for certain letters, or by deliberately misspelling words. Please keep in mind that our site has a firm "family friendly" policy.

You are Responsible for Yourself At MarlinsBaseball.com each user is responsible for his own posts. It is not possible, therefore, to successfully argue an appeal on the basis of what other users did prior to the action that was warned. Quoting an offensive word originally typed up by someone else will still result in an "Offensive Content" warning. Likewise, responding to a personal attack with a personal attack is not acceptable.
