I think they should try to bring Edwin Rodriguez back. He seemed like a good fit and it wasn't really his fault that the 2011 team sucked in June.

Mike Redmond just doesn't excite me.

Doesn't seem like something you'd say.

Rodriguez quit, it's his fault they had to find a replacement and is reason enough to exclude him.

I'm sure there was some pressure from the FO to do that.

I liked Edwin too but I think that ship has probably sailed. I mean whether he quit under the stress or he was urged to step down, neither speaks very well to the relationship.

May as well pencil in Redmond now.

What part? I mean, he seemed like a pretty decent in-game manager. That has some importance to me. I just don't buy much into the internal clubhouse stuff.

Would Edwin be my first choice? Probably not. I wanted Showalter when Fredi got sh*t canned. But if the Marlins are going to have this narrow criteria of having a yes-man and someone with little experience, I think Edwin is probably one of the better guys they can find to fill that role.

Yea mike Redmond really doesn't excite me either. Sandy Alomar Jr. would be a perfect fit. I'm actually shocked he's not in the mix right now.

Well really they do have a steady income even if they don't have job stability. Girardi got paid for a year or two then took another job, Fredi got paid the rest of the season and now Ozzie can take a year or two off. I certainly understand why this is a bad job for any MLB manager.

There is no real chain of command.
Need to be more of a yes man than actually form a team on your terms.
Always looking over your shoulder.
Hesitant to move your family here due to the uncertainty of job stability.
The downside list is too long to continue, but getting fired by the Marlins probably wouldn't be a detriment on one's resume.

But then again if everyone knows the swinging door of the Marlins and firing from them isn't a detriment on one's resume, just think about getting paid for a couple years either not doing anything or a possible gig in broadcasting while getting paid by the Marlins. :mis2 It may work in someone's favor. :whistle
