I've always been a fan of Mr. Sizemore. About 5 years ago, it could be argued that he was the ultimate 5-tool player in the game. But time has not been kind to him the injury bug has bitten him time and time again. After less than 400 MLB AB's combined the past three seasons, Sizemore could easily be had on a minor league deal.

If the Marlins offer him a pretty good incentive-laden contract, I see no reason why he wouldn't want to sign here. He'd have a great shot to win CF or LF in a no pressure environment. At the very least, a healthy Sizemore would offer a great platoon option and lefty bat in our lineup. If he does happen to pan out, we could always flip him at the trade deadline to add to the farm system (I hate that this is my mindset now. Damn you, Loria!)

At any rate, the reward would easily outweigh the risk of signing him to a minor league contract. In fact, what's there to lose?

Minor league deal? Do it.
He'd be cheap!

I think the starting outfield is pretty set with Pierre in LF, Ruggiano in CF, and Stanton in RF with Yelich waiting in the wings to take over in CF if Ruggiano under performs.

If he wants to come on a minor league deal and compete for a starting job in Spring Training, why not? But we don't have much use for him unless he's somehow found out how to play an infield position.

Sizemore would be a great pickup if he comes cheap. He's had major problems with health, but the upside is vastly more than what we could get anywhere else and even the top name free agents don't have much upside this year.

Sizemore is exactly the type of Free agent that would fit in with the Marlins, he is still fairly young, he is only 30 years old. Quiet guy who creates no waves and will be able to help younger players

I'd rather have Grady from Sanford and Son.

If he performs, we could trade him halfway into the season to a desperate contender and get some decent prospects for him

I was actually thinking about this earlier today. Low risk high reward situation. Buy low and sell high come deadline? Perfect situation for both parties. Maybe a minor league contract with invite to spring training. 4 mill in a incentive type contract. No-brainer.

Everyone think like the fo about players, if he comes cheap, no wonder loria sells the good players for cheap ones because he know that is how the fans think and have no problem with who he sign.

No. A team like the marlins needs to gamble on low risk high reward players because our payroll is apparently going to be stupid low. Since the FO has no plans on competing in the next 2 seasons at least they might as well turn sh*t into gold and snag some more prospects.

It's a good baseball decision to sell a player on a 1 year deal midseason for prospects... I don't understand..?

If we can't move Nolasco, I would make him a closer. Get like 20 saves and sell him to somebody like Matt Mantei.

The real question is whether or not the Marlins sign Chone Figgins. You just know that Beinfest is licking his chops right now.

figgins will have a pretty hefty price tag...if we got rid of Bonifacio who would have cost us a lot less why would the Marlins take on a potentially bigger salary?

Okay, so...

Zero players will put fans in the seats.

A winning team will put fans in the seats.

How about that?

Reyes is a much better and more exciting player than Figgins and he did'nt bring in the crowd...I agree a competitive team is what attracts people to the park. Last year watching a Marlins game was about as much fun as going to the dentist and having your wisdom teeth pulled...well maybe not quite as much fun, at least you get laughing gas at the dentist

minor league deal would be fine by me...if he sucks you cut him...they can afford to lose some money right now anyway....time to go back to trying a variety of options and see what sticks at this point.

This. The outfield is set, and Yelich will be up around June if or when Pierre or Ruggiano struggle.

Now that the Marlins' interest in a CF has been confirmed, Grady makes even more sense.

No reason to give up any prospects or money if we won't seriously compete next year. Plus Grady offers the best potential reward out of any similar minor league signing.
