Who are they going to get?  Mark Reynolds type power that hits .200?

Marlins Seek Power; Stanton Staying Put

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [November 27, 2012 at 3:27pm CST]
The Marlins are not entertaining trade offers for Giancarlo Stanton, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports. In fact, Marlins president of baseball operations Larry Beinfest told Heyman he’d love to find a powerful bat to pair with Stanton in Miami’s lineup.
"We want someone to hit behind him, someone to offer more power," Beinfest told Heyman. "Giancarlo represents the power on our team."
Adding a power hitter appears to be the Marlins’ top priority. Stanton, the 23-year-old slugger who has surpassed the 30-homer mark in both of the past two seasons, won’t be traded. People with Marlins connections and rival executives agree he’ll return to Miami in 2013. But aside from Stanton, who’s still pre-arbitration eligible, there are lots of areas of need for the Marlins.
"It's not going to be easy," Beinfest acknowledged. "We're not going to put any expectations on it ... the reality is, we haven't played good for a couple years."

If I'm understanding this right, we are looking to trade Escobar who is slated to be our 3B but is hitting 5th in our current order.

We have Hechevarria at SS, Lomo at 1B.

Are we legitimately looking at:
Escobar at SS
Reynolds at 3B
Lomo at 1B
and
Sending Hechevarria down to AAA?

I'm rather lost right now where Reynolds or any power hitter would play on this team next year with Lomo clogging 1B and Pierre in LF.

Escobar is being shopped around. I honestly don't see him with us on Opening Night.

Even if they get a 3B and want to develop Hechevarria at SS.............Escobar >>> Solano. Trading him is just being cheap.

Thats right, we have Solano slated to play 2B.

I mean, really, we could do that and get Reynolds to suck defensively at third.

So is the outfield pretty much settled with Pierre, Ruggi and Stanton?

No, they're gonna compete with Lomo, Reynolds and Minor League catcher Brad Davis.

He would probably be well above average at the position, yes.

Move him to 2B, then CF, Then 3B before we flip him to the Blue Jays.

Hopefully they can play him at 2B this year.

A Infield like the one below may be solid. If they all average .270 and about 10-20 HR's it may be respectable even.
1B-Lomo
2B- Escobar
SS- Hechevarria
3B- Reynolds

The hope is Reynolds can hit .250 with 30 HR's. That would make up the average in HR's between he and Hechevarria.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that "Power" means Hamilton and they give him a 5 year deal to get him to sign since the 5th year is so important to him. Just a NTC for the first 3 years.

Last time I checked 50% of the games are played outside the park. Also, there are power hitters that don't care what park they are in.

He's a multiple time all star and would be a nice option in either CF and LF. Plus he'd provide great protection behind Stanton.

It would have been better with Reyes and Boner but it is what it is. Heck if Hanley performed it would have been cool too.
