New Jersey?  I thought he was from California.

But I don't think they have a team in the WBC.

I feel like an All-Cali team could make a serious run at the WBC title.

Some stuff about WBC from Stanton http://www.usatoday....e-sale/1837899/

LOS ANGELES - Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton hears the rumors, knows what has already transpired, but refuses to publicly show his frustration with the organization's upheaval.

"All of the spotlight was on us last year,'' Stanton, 23, told USA TODAY Sports. "This year, it will be like all of the other previous years.''

The Marlins, who spent $190 million in the winter of 2011 to build a championship team for their new ballpark, turned around and dumped $242 million since July.

Stanton was so incensed with the Marlins' trade with the Toronto Blue Jays in November - dumping All-Star shortstop Jose Reyes, pitchers Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson, along with catcher John Buck and infielder Emilio Bonifacio - he sent out a tweetfor his bosses to see:

"Alright, I'm pissed off!!! Plain & Simple."

Stanton, when asked Tuesday if he's still angry, said, "Yeah, it's tough. You deal with what you got. You realize that's the business side.''

Yet, as the Marlins' biggest star remaining, hitting 37 homers last season, he dodged the question whether he wants to be the next one out the door.

"My preparation will be the same,'' he said, "so there's no difference for me.

"I'm preparing the same way I do every year.''

Stanton's name surfaced in trade rumors this winter, but while Marlins vice president Dan Jennings said the organization will always listen to proposals, Stanton is expected to stay.

"People take everything out of proportion,'' Stanton says, "everybody loves to stir something. If you listen to everything you hear, there's a lot of different directions you'd be leaning.''

The only thing Stanton knows for sure is that he's on Team USA for the World Baseball Classic this spring, which could be the highlight of his season.

"I'm real excited,'' Stanton said. "We [USA] haven't won it yet, so that would be great to be part of.

"I know I haven't played with USA on the chest, besides the [All-Star] futures game, but that wasn't playing for the importance of this. So it will be good to contribute.''

Stanton would like the roster to be filled with a Who's Who of Baseball, but All-Stars like Justin Verlander, Clayton Kershaw, Mike Trout and Buster Posey are not participating. He didn't have the opportunity to convince them otherwise.

"I didn't have power to do that,'' Stanton said, laughing, "I'm kind of in a lottery pick, too. So it was never like, "You're in it for sure, so do this. The team was already set when I knew.''

Some MLB people say teams such as the Rangers may prefer to keep their prospects for now in order to make stronger offers if and when David Price and Giancarlo Stanton become available in trades, ESPN.com’s Buster Olney reports

Glad to hear Giancarlo isn't still fuming like before... That's a good sign.

For anyone wondering, there's still a possibility that Stanton doesn't play on Team USA, he's also been rumored to single-handedly being "Team Stanton," period.

Steve Cishek also has joined Team USA.

Interestingly, "Prohibited Name" Bell, too.

Interesting and awesome that Cishek was asked to participate.

Even more interesting but retarded that Bell was asked to participate.I thought we were trying to win games...?
